A general closure is to be imposed Sunday at 11:59 p.m. on Judea and Samaria. The closure will be lifted Tuesday at 11:59 p.m., pursuant to a security situation assessment.

The closure was imposed following a decision by Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon, in accordance with IDF assessments.

During the closure, Palestinians Arabs will only be allowed into pre-1949 Israel for humanitarian reasons, medical ones or other exceptions, all subject to the approval of the IDF's Civil Administration.

The IDF said that the Israeli military “will continue to act to protect the people of the State of Israel, while taking into account the fabric of Palestinian life."

The imposition of a closure on areas of Judea and Samaria during the holidays is carried out regularly on Jewish holidays, and on state holidays such as Independence Day. The main reason for this stepped-up vigilance is that terrorists are partcularly fond of striking Jewish and Israeli targets on Jewish holidays.
