A car smashed through the A-Zayim checkpoint on Tuesday afternoon, lightly injuring two guards. The checkpoint in question is located near the city of Maaleh Adumim, a short distance from Jerusalem.
Witnesses say the car had Israeli license plates.
One of the guards managed to fire several shots at the tires of the car, but did not succeed in stopping it. The attackers escaped the scene.
Paramedics treated the injured guards at the scene, and evacuated one for further treatment. Soldiers are searching for the escaped vehicle.
The motive for the attack remains unclear. Checkpoints in Judea and Samaria have often been targeted in terrorist attacks.
