A youth magazine associated with the Palestinian Authority has published a list of "words of wisdom" - courtesy of none other than Adolf Hitler.

Palestinian Media Watch (PMW), an NGO which monitors incitement and hate-speach in Palestinian Authority media, said that Zayzafuna - which previously lost UNESCO funding after publishing an essay glorifying the Nazi dictator - attributed a list of short quotes to Hitler in order to present him "as a sharp-witted and wise person."

The one-liners attributed to Hitler include: "If you were stabbed in the back, know that you are in front"; "Don't challenge a man who has nothing to lose"; and "Don't find fault in your wife's taste for she chose you in the first place."

However, in a statement PMW said it could not find any record of Hitler making the comments, and that many of them appear to have been copied from other sources.

Zayzafuna's advisory board includes the PA's Deputy Minister of Education Jihad Zakarneh, and the Head of the Media Department of the PA Ministry of Education, Abd Al-Hakim Abu Jamous.

In May 2011, Zayzafuna's Deputy Chairman Abd Al-Karim Ziyada stated on PA TV that the PA funds the magazine to the tune of 10,000 shekels ($2,700) per month.

Concern over the issue of incitement by the Palestinian Authority and its affiliates has been highlighted repeatedly by Israelis and Jewish organizations, who say that whilst international pressure is often brought to bear on Israel to make "goodwill gestures", the PA is rarely if ever pressured to put a stop to hate speech and anti-Semitism by its official organs.

Even as peace talks between Israel and the PA have restarted, there have been many incidents of incitement on PA TV, as reported by Arutz Sheva.

In one recent incident, PA TV broadcast a crudely anti-Semitic program legitimizing violence against Jews in Judea and Samaria - stereotyping them as violent thieves. The end of the program glorified the humiliation of a religious Jew by cutting off his peyot side-curls, in a scene chillingly reminiscent of Nazi anti-Jewish propaganda.

Allegations by Israeli leaders that such incitement translates into action could not have been better illustrated yesterday, after a knife-wielding Arab attacker assaulted a hareidi-religious Jew on a bus, cutting off one of his peyot.

Other broadcasts included a music video encouraging violence against Israelis, and the glorification of the murderer of 61 Israeli civilians on the official Facebook page of Abbas' Fatah party.

Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, have said that ending incitement against Israel is a key factor in achieving peace.

Glorification of Nazi Germany in particular is not uncommon.

Just last week Arab residents of Beit Umar in the Palestinian Authority (PA) hung a Nazi flag over a major thoroughfare where Jews pass in their vehicles.

The flag was removed by Israeli soldiers from the Haruv battalion.

A similar event took place at Beit Umar in May, when hundreds of residents of Gush Etzion who drove down Highway 60 were astounded to see an oversized Nazi flag flying next to a mosque in the Arab town.

During a recent speech at Israel's Bar Ilan University, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu pointed out that the leader of the Palestinian Arabs in the first half of the 20th century, Mufti Hajj Amin Al-Husseini, was “one of the initiators of the Holocaust of the Jews of Europe,” and noted that he constantly encouraged  the Nazi leadership to annihilate the Jews throughout the war. He cited evidence that the Mufti even visited the gas chambers at Auschwitz with Adolf Eichmann.

"The Mufti is still a greatly admired figure in the Palestinian national movement," said Netanyahu.

"These are the weeds that need to be uprooted," he continued. "The root of the conflict is the deep resistance among a hard core of Palestinians to the right of the Jewish people to its own state in Israel."
