
A man was killed in Tel Aviv Wednesday morning when a ceiling collapsed on him in a three-story residential building on the corner of Herzl and Wolfson streets. He received treatment from Magen David Adom (MDA) crews that were rushed to the scene of the collapse but died of his wounds. Five others were injured.
MDA said that once the emergency call was received "medics and paramedics rushed to the scene, along with on-call MDA volunteers on motorbikes, as well as ambulances and Intensive Care mobile units. MDA teams treated 6 people, including one deceased aged about 30, on person who suffered medium injuries and four with light injuries.
Initial assessments said that the building where the tragedy occurred was being renovated when the ceiling collapsed, and that the men who were injured were construction workers.
Police closed off roads next to the scene of the accident in order to enable quick evacuation of the casualties.
