Netanyahu Congratulates Waze
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu called the heads of Waze on Tuesday night to congratulate them on having joined Google.
“You reached the goal! You put Israeli technology on the global map!” Netanyahu told them.
“You are also contributing to state coffers, which is welcome at this time,” he added.
The prime minister concluded, “I am waiting for your next start-up! You have done exceptional work.”
Waze, a traffic app with almost 50 million users, announced Tuesday that it had accepted an offer to join Google. Google Inc. reportedly acquired Waze for $1.1 billion.
Waze CEO Noam Bardin said, “We are excited a bout the prospect of working with the Google Maps team to enhance our search capabilities and to join them in their ongoing efforts to build the best map of the world.”
