Shas spiritual leader Rabbi Ovadia Yosef collapsed at his Jerusalem home Sunday evening.
A Red Magen David team evacuated him to Hadassah Ein Karem Hospital.
He is reportedly in stable condition but is suffering from bruising sustained when he fell.
In his Shabbat Torah lesson Saturday, Rabbi Ovadia instructed believers to recite slichot prayers on the Eve of Rosh Hodesh Tammuz, to supplicate G-d to undo the government decision regarding enlistment of hareidi men.
Our enemies and haters attack us,” he said. “We must pray to G-d to undo their decision and dissolve their plans.” He beseeched G-d to “annihilate” these enemies.
In other Shas-related news, a female Shas activist hurled verbal abuse at MK Rabbi Dov Lipman (Yesh Atid) at the annual Israel Day Parade in New York City Sunday.
The activist interrupted an interview MK Lipman was giving Arutz Sheva and flung harsh accusations at him.
Lipman was unperturbed and said, “I experience these attacks every day.”
Yesh Atid made its joining the government conditional on having the hareidi parties remain outside it. It is also spearheading the campaign to make hareidi men enlist to the military and to make non-enlistment a criminal offense.
