Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon toured Eilat Wednesday, hours after two Grad rockets struck the area.
Danon visited the neighborhood hit by the missiles and spoke to residents.
He met Eilat Mayor Meir Yitzchak Halevy and took part in a discussion with members of the city council. The discussion was attended by the commander of IDF's Edom Formation, Brig. Gen. Nadav Padan, and Eilat Region Police Commander, Col. Ron Gertner.
Danon said that the Iron Dome anti-missile battery deployed on the outskirts of the city identified the rockets.
The battery did not activate, though it is not clear why. Danon said the matter is being investigated.
“Due to operational circumstances the battery located in the area did not intercept the incoming rockets,” a source told AFP, without providing further explanation.
