Two teenagers from the city of Beitar Illit were injured Tuesday when they fell into a pit while touring with their families.

The two, ages 14 and 15, fell into the empty 15-meter-deep pit near Moshav Amatzia in southern Israel.

Paramedics were lowered into the pit in order to provide emergency care to the two youths. The two were then successfully removed and airlifted to hospital.

One was reportedly in serious but stable condition with injuries to his abdomen and limbs. He was conscious during evacuation.

Both were taken to Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital in Jerusalem.
