The new Knesset Speaker, MK Yuli Edelstein, was the first Israeli minister to visit Jonathan Pollard in jail, in 1997. His spokesman at the time was Yehuda Glick, now well-known as a leading figure in the Temple movement.

Glick took photos during the visit but the photos were forgotten over time – until the Pesach cleaning at the Glick household, this year.

"It was 1997 and I was the spokesman for then-Absorption Minister Yuli Edelstein," wrote Glick on his Facebook page Sunday.

"Yuli showed great interest in the issue of Jonathan Pollard and decided to be the first minister in the Israeli government to visit him in jail. I accompanied him and took photos of the visit.

"We thought to ourselves at the time – 12 years, what a long time this man has been sitting in jail!! Tomorrow, 16 years later, Yuli will be sworn in as Knesset Speaker, Obama is coming, and Jonathan is still in jail – hard to believe!!

"Today, in the course of Pesach cleaning, my son found these photos which I took then! So please G-d, bring him out of the darkness and into the light, from servitude to redemption, this year, quickly and soon!!"

The photos were taken at Federal Correctional Complex Butner, in Butner, North Carolina. A Navy officer was present as supervisor when Glick took the photos.
