Nisan Slomiansky, number 3 on the Bayit Yehudi list, sees G-d's hand in the attacks upon the party by Likud / Yisrael Beytenu. Quoting the Biblical verse regarding the flourishing of the nation of Israel despite the suffering inflicted by the Pharaohs, he told Arutz Sheva: " I hope that with G-d's help, next week on Tuesday, we shall fulfill the verse 'the more they were tortured, the more they multiplied and flourished.'"
Slomiansky's analysis is reminiscent of a popular refrain in a modern Israeli folk song: "We survived Pharaoh, and we'll survive this too." It also reflects the pain that the religious Zionist public has experienced as its core values came under attack from Likud, always considered a traditional, pro-religious party. Likud / Yisrael Beytenu's attacks in the final stretch of the election season have focused on Jewish Home's support for traditional family values and an alleged "war on women" by members of the religious Zionist list - which actually has three women in its top 12 spots.
