Likud MK Danny Danon is building a majority within the Central Elections Committee to disqualify MK Hanin Zoabi (Balad) from running in the upcoming election. Among other things, Zoabi took part in the terrorist flotilla aboard the Mavi Marmara, where IDF soldiers came under brutal attack and narrowly escaped with their lives.

In a letter to Committee members, Danon cited "Cooperation with terrorists aboard the Marmara, parties with Hamas terrorists, direct contact with the traitor Azmi Bishara and a call for a violent uprising against Israel" as reasons for disqualifying Zoabi.

The Likud MK has also initiated a petition that has been signed by more than 50,000 people, who oppose letting Zoabi run for the 19th Knesset.

"Zoabi used her parliamentary immunity in order to support a terrorist action that tried to kill IDF soldiers. An MK like that has no place in the Knesset – she belongs in jail," Danon's formal complaint said.

Danon stated that if Zoabi does not come under Section 7a of the Immunity Law, which protects Israel's democracy against "fifth columns," then the section is devoid of all meaning.
