This weekend, the Chairman of News Corp, media mogul Rupert Murdoch, stirred controversy for some of his tweets – and that was because, of course, he was absolutely right.
Murdoch tweeted: “Middle East ready to boil over any day. Israel position precarious. Meanwhile watch CNN and AP bias to point of embarrassment.” And he was, of course, prophetically correct.
He also tweeted, asking: “Why Is Jewish owned press so consistently anti Israel in every crisis?”
It’s not easy or politically correct for a major media owner – especially a non-Jew – to speak in this manner, but Murdoch is ideological and does the right thing even if it’s not popular. And, of course, he is right on the mark.
From Sean Hannity to Mike Huckabee, and countless other Fox News reporters, Israel supporters worldwide should be appreciative of Rupert Murdoch and Fox News’ unbiased coverage and support. A Pro-Israel light in a sea of enemies, and a great ally – and the joke of it is that Fox News’ is more profitable than all other major news networks combined.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in an interview earlier this year said “You know, we have two main enemies. It’s The New York Times and Haaretz. They set the agenda for an anti-Israel campaign all over the world. Journalists read them every morning and base their news stories … on what they read in The New York Times and Haaretz.” Those two outlets are owned by Jews – and any genuine Israel supporter knows that Murdoch is absolutely correct and telling the truth.
In 2011, Murdoch gave a speech where he said that the media “…is the soft war that seeks to isolate Israel by delegitimizing it. The battle ground is everywhere – the media, multinational organizations, NGOs. In this war, the aim is to make Israel a pariah.”
Murdoch concluded his speech quoting the Zionist prophetic leader, Ze’ev Jabotinsky: “It is not the anti-Semitism of men. It is, above all, the anti-Semitism of things, the inherent xenophobia of the body social or the body economic under which we suffer.” Jabotinsky had a keen understanding of the power of media - and Murdoch sees the world through Jabotinsky’s prism.
This powerful media mogul is one we should all thank and appreciate – and hope more in the media follow his vision and leadership. Thank You Rupert Murdoch and Fox News.
