Hareidi-religious women may not use smartphones, but they can learn to program them. A new course in the city of Bnei Brak teaches women to develop Android smartphone applications.

The course will be supervised by a local Beit Yaakov seminary in the city, Yisrael Hayom reports.

Ads for the course stated, “We are opening a course on developing smartphone applications in the Android environment. The goal of the course is to provide the practical tools and theoretical knowledge needed to work in the field.”

If the course proves a success, a second course is planned that will teach the development of iphone applications.

Hi-tech work has become increasingly popular in the hareidi community, among women in particular. At the same time, many hareidi men and women prefer to avoid the internet when possible.
