Win or lose in November, President Barack Obama will have the satisfaction of having been elected the “Commander in Cheese” by Cheetos fans, a popular American snack food.

Cheetos manufacturer Frito-Lay said Obama won the “entirely unscientific cheesy election poll [by] a narrow margin.”

Voters on the Cheetos Facebook page choose between two giant portraits of Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney. The portraits were made entirely of more than 2,000 individual Cheetos cheese snacks.

“Obama's 3 feet by 4 feet one-of-a-kind Cheetos portrait claimed 57 percent of the nationwide vote vs. former Gov. Mitt Romney's 3 feet by 4 Cheetos portrait,” a company press release said.

It added that the results of the poll “confirm what political pundits and other leading polls have indicated for weeks – any way you slice the cheese, this race could be one of the closest in history.”

Frito-Lay said its artist worked for more than 100 hours to sort and glue each Cheeto into the portraits.
