A Jerusalem Arab woman, enraged by the “Innocence of Muslims” film, tried to stab and kill policeman in the Silwan Valley, Sunday morning, who thwarted the attempt.
The woman, age 32, approached the policeman in parking lot in the neighborhood, located across the road from the Western Wall.
The policeman overpowered the woman and was not injured.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the women was taking out her anger over the film, an amateur production that infuriated Muslims around the world after it was translated into Arabic on YouTube.
More violent protests took place on Saturday, this time in India, Nigeria and Bangladesh. Hundreds of Muslims in India demanded that New Delhi cut off diplomatic ties with the United States and Israel. They burned effigies of President Barack Obama and the American and Israel flags, The Hindu web site reported.
In Bangladesh, dozens of people were injured in clashes between demonstrators and police. On Friday, 20 people died in Pakistan, where a Cabinet minister offered a $100,000 for the death of the producer of the film, which depicts Islam as a religion that exploits women and encourages murder.
