Rabbi Ashkenazi Passed Away at Age 96
Rabbi Elimelech Ashkenazi passed away at the age of 96 in Seagate, New York.
He was regarded as the last of the talmidim of Chachmei Lubin and was viewed as the rav of Australia’s and Brussel’s chareidi communities.
In the last months of his life, Rav Ashkenazi’s health deteriorated significantly and his family took him to Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan for medical treatment.
His levaya will take place in New York on Tuesday, 10 Elul 5772 and his remains will then be flown to Israel where they will be buried on Wednesday.
