A "crazy golf course" in Blackpool, Britain has sparked outrage by featuring a model of Adolf Hitler that gives a Nazi salute whenever a player hits a shot on target.
The brown-shirted statue, which raises its right arm and shouts "No, No, No" every time a ball passes underneath, was unveiled on Saturday as part of a nine-hole crazy golf course, where each hole is designed by a different artist.
The Hitler installation was designed by Jake and Dinos Chapman, notoriously offensive British artists, and is currently on display at the Grundy Art Gallery.
A spokesman for the Gallery said the model has been well received by the public, The Daily Mail reported.
“Everyone who has seen it has thought it was great fun and has enjoyed playing on it,” he said. “When we were thinking about installing, it we contacted the local ex-servicemen's committee because we were concerned about causing any offense. They said they were happy if we went ahead with it, and we haven't received any complaints."
The course, which also features a statue of Saddam Husseim, aims to depict various parts of Britain's political history and culture.
Michael Samuels of the Board of Deputies of British Jews said the work had "absolutely no artistic value whatsoever," the BBC reported.
"He's not somebody that you would make a joke of - Hitler was responsible for the murders of many millions of people," he said.
"I am appalled that the gallery would stoop to show an item like this which, in my opinion, has got absolutely no artistic value whatsoever,” he added. “If I were the gallery, I would give it back to the artists and tell them to keep it in the shed."
