Dozens of people demonstrated outside the King David hotel in Jerusalem Sunday afternoon, reminding him that the United States has been holding Jonathan Pollard in jail for well over a quarter of a century.

The protesters held large signs showing the faces of prominent figures who have called for Pollard's release. These include former secretaries of state Henry Kissinger and George Schultz, former CIA head James Woolsey and Senator John McCain.

Free Pollard campaign coordinator Efi Lahav said that the call to release Pollard crosses party lines in the U.S> and Israel. "Every other person who committed a similar offense was freed after a much shorter time," he said. "Justice and mercy demand that an end be put to this."

Romney told the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations in December that he was “open to examining” the Pollard case but did not call for his release, as some had hoped.
