Cave of Patriarchs
A terrorist on Monday evening stabbed a Border Police officer at the Muslim entrance to the Cave of the Patrarchs in Hevon.
Nearby soldiers opened fire on the terrorist, woundig him critically and ending the threat.
MDA team arrived on the scene cleared the soldier to the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem, with light injuries to their head. Another MDA team resuscitated the terrorist.
The Israel Police and IDF are investigating the incident.
Earlier on Monday, Arabs in Hevron threw iron bars at soldiers.
Security officials released in late May that the Shin Bet and IDF broke up three terror cells operating in Hevron.
The cells planted a number of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) along the security fence surrounding the settlement of Kiryat Arba, and carried out an IED attack on an Israeli car near Yata.
They also planned to kidnap one of the Jewish residents of Hevron. If the kidnapping failed, they reportedly planned to murder the target.
The terrorists also admitted to throwing several Molotov cocktails at other settlements in the area – and studying IDF responses to the attacks.
The cells were also involved in hurling stones at passing Israeli vehicles, and IDF soldiers and officials, on Route 60 near Halhul.
