Lt. Col. Shai Abramson, who will complete four years in his job as the IDF's Chief Cantor this summer, he has decided to record a second album, according to the IDF Website.
"I think it is right and proper that the IDF Chief Cantor busy himself with the production of albums that can connect soldiers and commanders in the army to tradition, Zionism and the values of the State of Israel," he said.
His first album, "Sim Shalom," was a compilation of recordings from IDF ceremonies and events in which he took part. The second album is a more intricate production, carried out with the SFI Orchestra and Chorus under conductor Dr. Mordechai Sobol.
The new album will include Israeli songs, old hazzanut staples and a song in Yiddish. One of the purposes of the album is "to strengthen commanders' fighting spirit," Lt. Col. Abramson explained.
His belief in connecting with the audience recently led him to decide that the public would select what the final song in the album will be. For this purpose he has recorded the video embedded in this report – in which he presents fans with six options for the album's last song. The rest is up to you.
