Greek Neo-Nazi Party's Website Suspended
The International blogging platform WordPress said that it has suspended the website of the Greek neo-Nazi party Golden Dawn, which won approximately seven percent of the vote in parliamentary elections on Sunday.
"This blog has been archived or suspended for a violation of our terms of service," reads a message replacing the far-right party's home page.
WordPress bars "hate content" and material that threatens or incites violence in its user agreement.
A Greek public television station said that the party was protesting the suspension.
Golden Dawn, whose logo closely resembles a swastika, received approximately seven percent of the vote, twice the minimum threshold level required to send representatives to parliament, giving them 21 seats.
The Jewish community of Greece has expressed apprehension over the party’s winnings and warned of a re-emergence of fascism and Nazism. The Jewish Council in Greece called it "a serious attack on Greek democracy."
In addition to its racist, anti-Semitic platform, Golden Dawn has also been accused of carrying a death threat on its website against a journalist at liberal daily Kathimerini, the AFP reported.
