A fatal car accident in New York on Monday killed seven family members, including the grandparents, two daughters, and three grandchildren.
CBS reported the family's car spun off the road, most likely after swerving at high speed, and then rolled almost fifty feet down a gorge at the Bronx Zoo.
"The car drove at high speed when suddenly hit something and flew over a railing about fifty feet hight," a police source told reporters.
In 2006, a similar accident occured, killing five. No visitors to the Bronx Zoo were injured in the incident, but the area has been closed to allow investigators to complete their inquirty uninterrupted.
Activists told the media that there are known safety issues with the stretch of road in question, and issued a call for officials to rectify them so future accidents can be avoided.
