Police officer Amir Daseta was prepared for Sunday to be a special day, as he was scheduled to be promoted along with several other officers selected for their excellence in service. What he did not know was that he would also merit saving a life.

Daseta was given the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He went from the awards ceremony directly to his work with the traffic police in the Sharon region.

While traveling Route 4, he noticed a car at the side of the road and an elderly man who appeared distraught. Daseta pulled over to talk to the man, and saw a woman in the back seat of the car who appeared to be in considerable pain.

The man explained that the woman was his wife, and that she needed dialysis urgently. However, the couple’s car had broken down on the way to the hospital.

Daseta quickly transferred the two to his own car, put on the siren, and raced them to Meir Hospital. The woman was taken in for her treatment immediately, and her life was saved.
