Leaders from the Young Likud on Thursday sent a letter to Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin demanding he do everything in his power to censure MK Hanin Zoabi and those who abuse their freedoms to harm the Jewish state.

"We believe that every Israeli citizen has the basic right to be faithfully represented in the Israeli parliament. Moreover, we believe that freedom of expression is basic and a fundamental right necessary for democracy to function," Omri Akunis, Itamar Donnfeld, and Eli Cantor wrote.

"However, we believe that the actions of MK Zoabi already crossed every red line," they said. "Her participation in the Mavi Marmara flotilla sought to legitimize, support, and encourage terrorists.

"This, along with regularly abusing her freedom of speech to incite, as exemplified by her interview with Danny Kushmaro on Channel 2, creates a clear danger which must be considered.

"Zoabi acts in contravention of section 7A of the Basic Law of the Knesset, and the failure to use all remedies to censure her for this has aggravated her actions and her incitement. This should be stopped."

Section 7A of Israel's Basic Law of the Knesset says: "A candidates' list shall not participate in elections to the Knesset if its objects or actions, expressly or by implication, include one of the following: (1) negation of the existence of the State of Israel as the state of the Jewish people; (2) negation of the democratic character of the State; (3) incitement to racism."

Zoabi has repeatedly called for an end to the Jewish character of the state of Israel, associates with terror leaders who wish to destroy Israel, and endorsed calls to violence against its Jewish citizens, including veiled calls for a third Intifada.

At the end of the letter the Young Likud leaders ask Rivlin to use all tools necessary to ensure Knesset members do not use their positions and democratic freedoms to incite against the state of Israel and undermine the interests of its citizens.

"The State of Israel is committed to democratic values, freedom of expression, and human dignity and freedom, but democracy has to set clear boundaries to ensure its own survival," they write. "The Young Likud urges you to use all means available to censure those who exploit Israeli democracy to harm the State of Israel.”
