New York was the most popular destination for passengers from Ben Gurion Airport last month, 8.73 % higher than January 2011.

A total of 804,470 passengers on 6,755 international and domestic flights passed through Ben Gurion Airport in January.

International passenger traffic last month totaled 745,779 passengers, representing an increase of 3.43% compared with January 2011. International aircraft traffic totaled 5,971 flights, representing a decrease of 4.73 % compared with January 2011.

On domestic flights, 58,691 passengers passed through Ben Gurion Airport, compared with 62,011 in January 2011, a decrease of 5.35%.

Israeli airlines carried 298,801 passengers in this month, with 40.06% of all travelers passing through Ben Gurion Airport, a decrease of 6.3% relative to the previous January

Of the leading airlines that operated at the airport in January, the highest growth relative to January 2011 was registered in the activity of Aerosvit and Alitalia

The destination with the highest volume of activity was New York - JFK, with a total of 53,679 passengers to and from, an increase of 8.73% compared with the previous January.

The country with the highest volume of activity was the United States, with 120,073 passengers, constituting 16.09% of all activity.

Of the leading countries, the highest growth relative to last January was recorded in passenger traffic to Ukrainie and Switzerland.
