MKs to Netanyahu: Don't Pin Migron on Court
The heads of the Land of Israel Lobby in the Knesset rejected on Sunday attempts by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to present the demolition of Migron as something only the High Court can stave off.
"The Land of Israel Lobby in the Knesset supports the struggle of the residents of Migron and the rest of the young communities against the demolition of the communities," the Lobby stated. "Remember that all of the High Court decisions regarding outposts rely on statements made by the Prime Minister, and therefore the Prime Minister has the ability to change them."
The Lobby added: "We regret that our repeated pleas to the Prime Minister, in the name of 40 Lobby members, have not been answered, that the legal opinions we submitted have not been properly studied, and that the bills that the Lobby supports are blocked by the Prime Minister."
Netanyahu has rejected Knesset proposals for legislation to legalize Migron and other communities in Judea and Samaria. He told the Cabinet Sunday that the government proposes a compromise: rebuild Migron residents' homes next to the present site, which would be emptied of its residents and handed over to the Judea and Samaria Civil Administration.
He said that if the idea is acceptable to all sides, the government will ask the High Court to delay the demolition order until the new homes are completed.
