Political elements within the religious Zionist camp propose a unified list headed by Rav Avichai Ronsky, the former Chief Military Rabbi. Arutz Sheva has learned that if the idea is accepted, Rav Ronsky will head a list that will include the current Knesset Members from the Jewish Home and National Union, in a pattern agreed upon by both parties.
Since the last elections, Minister Daniel Hershkovitz of the Jewish Home and MK Yaakov Katz (Ketzaleh) of the National Union have tried to come up with a unified list for the next elections. The MKs from both parties have been holding joint sessions to discuss the issues that concern the religious Zionist public.
Last July, the two party chairmen announced their intent to unite before the next elections.
Minister Hershkovitz explained that the factions decided to start holding joint sessions "out of consciousness of the importance of political unity in the Zionist, religious, traditional and national camp."
MK Katz said that wherever the MKs go, people ask them how it is that the religious Zionists, who lead in so many fields, are unable to field a united leadership.
