The Legal Forum for the Land of Israel has asked the Police Commissioner and the IDF Central Command Head to find those responsible for the cruel eviction of families from community of Mitzpe Avichai last night.

Attorney  Avital Tzachor, on behalf of the Forum, said in a letter to the police and army chiefs that the eviction took place at 2:00 a.m., and that security forces broke into homes while shouting, took pregnant women, children and sleeping babies out of their beds, and pushed them out of their homes into the near-freezing night.

The temperature was 2 degrees Celsius (36 degrees Fahrenheit), she noted.

The residents were then led by foot from the hill they had lived on to Kiryat Arba. This severe abuse of children's rights had no justification and flies in the face of all regulations and instructions, she added. Children's rights were not considered in the decision to carry out the eviction, she said, and it does not stand to reason that it was necessary to evict children and babies into the freezing night.

Whoever was responsible for this "serious risk" to the children's physical and mental health, and for causing this "unfathomable and indescribable trauma," must be brought to justice, the Forum stated.
