The rumors of an imminent destruction of a Jewish community came true early Thursday morning as Border Police officers arrived without warning in large numbers in the outpost of Mitzpe Yitzhar in the Shomron and destroyed two buildings.

Local residents reported that the troops had entered the community through a nearby Arab village instead of the through the main road.

Kol Yisrael radio reported that the two buildings that were demolished were a trailer home and an agricultural structure. According to the report, there were no clashes between local residents and security forces during the demolition.

According to a Channel 2 report, the security forces prevented MK Michael Ben-Ari from entering the outpost, despite his having immunity as a Knesset member.

Ben-Ari said in response, “I fear that the demolition in Mitzpe Yitzhar will cause a chain reaction. Instead of calming the area Netanyahu and Barak are throwing a match into a barrel of oil. The move was unwise in addition to being unjust.”
