The Defense Ministry published a special statement Sunday in which it denied reports that the Association for Wellbeing of Israeli Soldiers (AWIS) is in danger of closing.
"Reports in the media, according to which AWIS is in danger of closing, are baseless," the defense ministry said.
"AWIS will soon undergo processes of reorganization and streamlining, which are currently in the process of consolidation and staff work, and which will be presented to the Minister of Defense when they are completed. The purpose of these processes is to cause AWIS to operate more efficiently for the welfare of the IDF's soldiers."
Defense Minister Ehud Barak said that "the Association has been operating for 70 years and will continue to serve IDF soldiers for many more years in the future."
