Terrorists resumed their rocket fire on southern Israeli communities early Saturday morning. Two Grad Katyusha rockets slammed into the Asheklon Coastal Region, both exploding in open areas of the district.

Earlier in the morning, two short-range Qassam rockets were launched at the Eshkol Regional Council District at about 7:30 a.m. Both exploded on open fields, causing no physical injuries or damage.

The Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) terrorist organization, allied with the Hamas terrorist rulers of Gaza, claimed responsibility for the attacks, which abated by Saturday afternoon.

A barrage of rocket fire had struck the region on Friday as well, bringing the total to 17 missiles launched in less than 24 hours.

No one was physically injured, although for many, the necessity of having to spend another Sabbath "on alert" triggered the traumas of past attacks.

More than a dozen rockets and missiles were fired at Israel on Friday, according to reports broadcast on Israeli radio stations. The defense establishment met in an emergency session to discuss a response to the attacks that included IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz, Deputy Chief of Staff Maj.-Gen. Yair Naveh, OC Southern Command Maj.-Gen. Tal Russo, and senior IAF and Israel Navy officers.

Israeli fighter pilots took to the skies overnight Friday to retaliate, and struck a selected terrorist target in southern Gaza. The IDF Spokesperson said in a statement a direct hit was confirmed.
