Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu announced on Wednesday that the appointment of attorney Harel Locker as the Prime Minister’s Office Director-General will be submitted for Cabinet approval on Sunday, December 12.

Locker holds a Bachelor Degree of Law (LL.B) from Tel Aviv University School of Law, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting from Tel Aviv University School of Management, and a Master’s Degree of Law (LL.M) in Taxation, with distinction, from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC.

He has extensive experience in the business sector and with various government ministries and specializes in various issues in the commercial-economic sphere, such as tax law, companies law, real estate and infrastructures, mergers and acquisitions, high-tech, venture capital and international transactions.

He most recently served as a senior partner and member of the managerial staff at S. Friedman and Co., one of Israel’s leading and senior commercial law firms. From 2004-2007, he was a managing partner at the law firm of Shohat, Locker & Co.

From 2001-2004, he was an associate at the major Wall Street law firm of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver and Jacobson. From 1995-2000, he was a senior partner at the law firm of Shekel and Co.

A captain in the IDF reserve, Locker served in both Judea and Samaria, and in Lebanon.

If his appointment is approved, Locker will replace the former Director-General, Eyal Gabbai, who left the position in September.
