Over the past five years, countless songs have been recorded for kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. From hassidic singers to rappers to jazz musicians, the kidnapping had an impact. Now that Shalit has been released, musicians are releasing new songs as well.
The vocal ensemble Soul Key [Mafteach Soul] is one of those groups. Their original composition "Come Home" is one of the many new tributes to Shalit.
The song was originally written during Shalit's captivity. Now that Shalit is free, the song has been released as a video. The group consists of five young Israeli men who sing in vocal harmony. They originally met in the Israeli army and are now working on their debut album. The group has performed on stage with the famous hassidic singer Avraham Fried.
The music as well as the words were written by Aviram Shukron. The following is a translation of a portion of the lyrics:
From the mountains of Gilead
The darkness did not break
That prayers are answered there for you
For Gilad arrived
And always knew ...
One day to hope again
