A bus carrying 40 Pakistani Shia Muslim pilgrims to Iran was ambushed killing most of the passengers and wounding the balance. In a planned operation two motorcycles blocked the bus and three gunmen then stormed the vehicle.

Pakistan is predominantly Sunni and Muslim terrorism has been inflicted on the secular, Christians and minority Shia. live there relatively peacefully, extremists on both sides often target each other's leaders and activists.

 President Asif Ali Zardari strongly condemned the attack and called it an inhuman and a brutal act of terrorism. His government he said was determined to fight this menace to the finish but the menace may well finish his government..

He offered his sympathy to the bereaved families and directed the to take all necessary measures to bring the perpetrators to justice.
