Likud MK Danny Danon assessed Monday that the political personality behind the Migron demolitions is Defense Minister Ehud Barak (Independence).

Barak "is torturing the settlers with government backing," he told Arutz Sheva.

"What causes Barak to be in such a rush [to demolish]?", Danon asked rhetorically. "The court did not set timetables, after all. They should have given more time for legalizing the community."

Danon did not deny the Prime Minister's role in the demolition. "The overall responsibility rests with the Prime Minister," he explained, "but the eagerness to move forward, the urge to destroy, is Barak's. Where is this passion when the population in question is Bedouin? Why are there discussions and committees then?"

"This is a cynical calculation by Barak at the expense of the settlers and our role is to prevent him from carrying this out," Danon stated.

The prominent freshman MK announced his intention to bring thousands of Likud members to Migron and to tell the prime minister from there that the Likud was elected to build, not to destroy, despite Barak's position to the contrary. "If the choice is between evicting communities and evicting the Defense Minister from his office, I'd rather evict the Defense Minister," he summed up.
