Education Minister Gideon Saar referred on Friday to the terrorists who carried out the multiple attacks in Israel on Thursday as “the essence of evil.”

Saar, who attended the funeral of one of the victims, 57-year-old Yosef Levy from Holon, said, “Yosef Levy z”l was a believing Jew, a man who gave to others, a wide-hearted individual, a man who all his life wanted to do good and was killed by the essence of the evil – the lowest beings who pointed their weapons at the hearts of innocent civilians.”

Saar also said that the IDF’s swift response in killing the leaders of the Popular Resistance Committee in Gaza is a message to all terror organizations.

“A short time after the terror attack, the IDF’s long arm got the heads of this terror organization in Gaza,” he said.

Addressing the terror groups directly, Saar threatened, “Don’t make the mistake of thinking that you can go free after sending a murder squad to harm Israeli citizens. Israel will go after anyone who tries to hurt it – both the murderers and those who send them.”

Yosef and Esther Levy were attacked by terrorists as they were driving on Highway 12. The terrorists sprayed the car with fire, hitting both passengers and causing the vehicle to overturn.

Esther was hit in the shoulder and suffered additional injuries when the car crashed. She survived by pretending to be dead, and managed to remain still for an hour as IDF soldiers engaged the terrorists and a gun battle ensued.

Her actions may have saved her life. Terrorists made sure to “confirm the kill” by shooting again from up close after attacking a second car full of travelers, all four of whom were murdered.
