An IDF soldier from the Kfir Brigade was moderately wounded on Tuesday during a training accident at the Elyakim base, the IDF Spokesperson’s website reported.

According to the report, the soldier was hit in the stomach by a bullet. He was given initial treatment by paramedics at the base and was then taken for further treatment at a hospital. His family was notified of the accident.

The IDF spokesperson noted that military police have launched an inquiry into the accident, and added that it would submit its findings and conclusions to the Military Advocate General.

Two months ago, an IDF soldier was seriously wounded after falling from a tank at an IDF base in southern Israel. The soldier fell from the tank for a reason which is unknown and hit his head.

Following the accident and in accordance with standard procedure, the soldier was taken by helicopter for medical treatment at the Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva.

A similar incident to Tuesday’s occurred last year at an IDF base in northern Israel. In that incident, too, a soldier was wounded, this time seriously, by a bullet which hit him in the stomach.
