Likud MKs and mayors have joined the call to get Prime Minister Netanyahu to annex the Jewish towns of Judea and Samaria.

A Likud get-together was called for this purpose at the Knesset on Monday by MK Danny Danon, who said, "In response to the well-orchestrated and aggressive campaign by the Palestinians, involving political and security terrorism, it is time that Israel be the one to set the tone. Israel's only answer to a unilateral PA declaration of statehood must be Israeli sovereignty."

"We, Knesset Members of the Likud, will take action in the coming Knesset summer session," Danon said, "to apply Israeli sovereignty over areas of Judea and Samaria, our historic inheritance, in accordance with the Likud party platform."

Danon presented the results of a new survey carried out by the Geocartographic Institute, showing that over 54% of the public favor annexing, while only 30% oppose it.  He said the purpose of the get-together was to "strengthen Prime Minister Netanyahu during his upcoming trip to Washington." He also called on Netanyahu to call for the releasea of Jonathan Pollard in his speech to Congress.

Other MKs who expressed support for these goals were MK Ze'ev Elkin, Tzipi Hotoveli, Miri Regev, Tzion Pinian, and Carmel Shama.
