Soldier Injured in IDF Armored Corps Training Accident
An IDF soldier was seriously injured Tuesday night after he collapsed and fell from a tank at the Shizafon training base in Southern Israel.
The soldier, who suffered head injuries, was airlifted by helicopter to the Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva after initial treatment by IDF medics at the scene of the accident.
At present, it is unclear whether the soldier was struck by the tank's turret while conducting operations or he collapsed due to poor health. The soldier’s family was notified of the incident.
Last year the IDF Armored Corps had another training accident when a soldier suffered critical head injuries, including injuries to his face, while working with a tank's tow-line in the Golan Heights. Following that accident training for the Armored Corps was temporarily halted to allow for a review.
