Border Police officers stationed at the Tapuach Junction south of Shechem discovered on Tuesday five pipe bombs and three Molotov cocktails ready to be thrown.

The explosives were found in a bag belonging to a Palestinian Arab terrorist after he was deemed suspicious by the officers who decided to inspect him and his belongings. The terrorist was taken for further questioning by security forces and the explosive devices were detonated by sappers.

The incident came after several attacks by Arabs on Tuesday evening. In one attack, Arabs stoned two buses that were driving along the road leading from French Hill in Jerusalem to the nearby city of Maaleh Adumim. One woman was lightly injured and was taken for medical treatment at the hospital on Mount Scopus.

In another incident, Arabs attacked Israeli drivers on the road between Gush Etzion and Hevron. They blocked the highway with burning tires, then threw stones and firebombs at drivers who were stuck on the road. No injuries were reported.

The IDF website noted that five months ago, IDF forces uncovered a knife among the possessions of a PA Arab at the same checkpoint. The knife was confiscated and the Arab was taken for further questioning.

The Tapuach Junction was also the place where IDF soldier Ihab Khatib was killed in a terrorist attack last year.
