Soldiers Pitch In to Restore Carmel Forest
Soldiers from the Nachal Brigade have been given a special mission – to help restore the Carmel Forest, a beautiful natural area that was recently devastated by a massive fire. One thousand soldiers took part in the task.
The soldiers focused on clearing hiking trails. They removed fallen trees, cut dangerously unstable branches, collected refuse, and marked hiking trails in places where signs had been burnt.
The Nachal Brigade was founded shortly after the establishment of the state of Israel as a program that allowed young soldiers to combine military service with agricultural work and the establishment of new villages.
The program has since evolved to include other types of social projects, such as running programs in poor communities.
