Soldiers from the Kfir Brigade foiled an attempted terrorist stabbing attack at the Gush Etzion Junction Thursday afternoon. An Arab with a knife tried to stab civilians who were standing at the junction.

The soldiers overpowered the man and confiscated the knife. He was arrested and taken away by the Israel Police for interrogation.

A year ago, an Israeli woman suffered light to moderate wounds in a stabbing attack in the same location. A knife-wielding Arab approached the woman, who was standing at the bus stop, and stabbed her in the back. IDF forces put up roadblocks and combed the area for the attacker, who managed to get away.

The Gush Etzion (Etzion Bloc) Junction is a central intersection that connects roads leading to the communities of Gush Etzion, Efrat, Hevron and Beit Shemesh. It is considered a hotspot for terrorism and is manned by the IDF 24 hours a day, in several observation and security posts.
