
Israeli fighter pilots struck two terror targets in southern Gaza Saturday night in response to a rocket attack fired at southern Israel from the region earlier in the day. Direct hits as well as secondary blasts were identified, according to the IDF Spokesperson’s Office.
According to the IDF, pilots fired two rockets, injuring one person. A local security source said the rockets hit an abandoned smuggler tunnel near the Egyptian border, and an open area. The source confirmed that one person was injured by flying glass.
Hamas sources told an AFP reporter that one of the strikes was aimed at the Khan Yunis area.
Gaza terrorists fired a short-range Kassam missile which exploded in a field in the Sdot Negev Regional Council district Saturday morning. No injuries were reported, nor was there any damage.Since the beginning of 2010, approximately 180 long-range Grad missiles, shorter-range Kassam rockets and mortar shells fired from Gaza have exploded on Israeli territory.
“The IDF holds the Hamas terrorist organization solely responsible for maintaining the calm in the Gaza Strip and for any terrorist activity emanating from it,” said the IDF in a statement. “The IDF will also continue to respond harshly to any attempt to use terror against the State of Israel.”
