In response to American pressures for more concessions to the Palestinian Authority and the halt of Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria, activists gathered outside the U. S. embassy in Tel Aviv to protest by throwing shoes at a picture of President Barack Obama
The photograph that was used shows Obama sitting in his office with his shoes on his desk while speaking on the phone with Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
"Mr. Obama" said Uri Barnea, one of the organizers of the protest, "you prevented the burning of the Koran, but know you're kicking the Holy Bible. In the Bible, the Promised Land was promised to the Jews."
