A powerful new ad campaign that has gone viral on the Internet is targeting plans to build a mosque next to Ground Zero, site of the September 11, 2001 attack by Al-Qaeda terrorists on the World Trade Center in New York City.

A “last chance” public hearing to block the proposed construction of the center was held earlier this month, after a Community Board committee had already approved the project. A final decision resulting from the public hearing is not expected until the end of the summer. It is believed that only a decision by the Landmark Preservation Commission can prevent demolition of the 152-year-old building, Cordova House, that now stands on the site.

The one-minute video, produced by The Center for Security Policy, aims to show that construction of the planned 13-story, $100 million Islamic community center and mosque will create “a beachhead for Shari'ah [Islamic law].”  An effort was initially made to keep the source of funding for the mosque project under wraps. Nevertheless, it was discovered several weeks ago that the Muslim cleric providing the primary support for the complex, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, is a key figure in the Malaysia-based Perdana Global Peace Organization, and a major donor to the pro-Hamas terrorist "Free Gaza" movement.

Dramatic footage and narrative combine to explain that the mosque will symbolize for the terrorists the “barbaric, supremacist and totalitarian program authoritative Islam calls 'Shari'a,'” according to Center director Frank Gaffney. He adds that the mosque will thus be used to “symbolize America's defeat at the hands of her enemies."

“We say, 'No Mosque at Ground Zero,'” declares the narrator in the ad.
