Jews who used to live in the demolished community of Yad Yair, northwest of Jerusalem, returned to the area Wednesday to sleep there for the night. The former residents chose to camp out at the site as a gesture of their continued connection to the place, from which they have been barred for the past 18 months.

The overnight action was not approved by the IDF. During the night soldiers came to investigate, but the activists managed to evade eviction.

Former residents noted that Yad Yair was destroyed despite a Supreme Court order delaying the demolition. Residents are now pursuing damages in court.
