Saul Singer, co-author of Startup Nation, a book about Israel's incredible small business and hi-tech growth, spoke with INR's Tamar Yonah at this year's Jerusalem Conference.
Singer said, "We did over a hundred interviews with leaders in Israel's businesses. We also found out how Americans and others look at Israel from the outside. We spoke with Google, Intel, and Microsoft about how they view Israeli ingenuity. What we discovered is that there are a lot of countries that are innovative, and a lot of countries that are entrepreneurial, but what Israel has is both. A lot of it comes from Israeli history and the unique Israeli situation. We have gotten used to adversity and lack of resources for so long, that we've had to be innovative to survive."
