Ben Gurion University in the Negev has created its own channel on the popular film-sharing site YouTube. The channel allows the school to share practical information with its own students and faculty, and to provide educational material to the general public.

While most of the content is in Hebrew, the university has posted several videos in English as well.

The videos provided so far vary greatly in length. Some are short clips advertising the school or notifying students of an upcoming event, while others document academic conferences that are several hours long.

The university joins several others in Israel and around the world that have begun providing free content online. Several schools, among them the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), have even uploaded videotapes of entire courses to the Internet, allowing free access to educational materials for people worldwide.
