A new group calling itself Tatzpit (Observation Point) says it’s time to take back the media field – and is adopting a proactive approach, sending the press video clips with a nationalist slant.

Director Amotz Eyal told Arutz-Sheva’s Shimon Cohen that the aims of the new group are clear: “We want documentation of events in the field, so that not only the left-wing version will be seen and heard. We complain that the press doesn’t present our side, but it’s partly our fault – because we don’t give them material, while the other side works overtime to give them material. They film and document every provocation that they create, and they send it to newspapers and internet sites, and that’s what the public sees.”

To change this, Tatzpit has disseminated digital cameras to many people in and around Judea and Samaria in order to be able to catch “live” events that should be shared with the public – and to ensure that the facts are presented. “There was a recent anarchist/Arab provocation – shooting in the Shimon HaTzaddik neighborhood by Arabs – that the police simply denied ever occurred. The same thing happened a while ago when two Border Guard police were attacked in eastern Jerusalem. We want to make sure these events don’t recur; if we have film coverage, they won’t be able to be denied.”

Eyal said that the organization’s materials are first sent to the legal team of the Land of Israel Forum for its perusal.

In addition, Tatzpit wants to film nationalist events, such as the recent entry into Jericho.

“If we send our material to the media,” Eyal said, “they won’t be able to ignore us. They might be against us, but they are also commercially-motivated, and therefore they will use our materials, if we provide high-quality stuff.”
