The IDF completed a large scale command and control exercise that tested the readiness of the various IDF commands, branches and departments, in reserve and compulsory duty, and in various types of warfare. The exercise simulated different operational scenarios, with a large number of reservists in participation.

Various combat methods and protocols of cooperation between the ground forces were tested, as were the command centers' abilities in continual functionality under different circumstances.

In addition, the forces trained to wage war in several arenas at once, with support from the logistical, intelligence, media relations and home front units, and continuous dialogue with the political leadership.

Relevant lessons learned from the Second Lebanon War and Operation Cast Lead were implemented.

Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi said that “Israel has no interest in regional escalation but we are keeping a close eye on the IDF to keep it ready, deterrent and coiled to strike.”
